About The Century

The Century is a 478 ft (146m) tall luxury condominium skyscraper in Century City, California. It is under construction, scheduled for completion in late 2009. The building will have 42 floors, making it the 22nd tallest building in Los Angeles. The 140 unit building was designed by Robert A. M. Stern. The Century was developed by Related Companies. The Century is on the site of the former St. Regis Hotel, a Century City landmark next to the Century Plaza Hotel. The 30-story hotel was completed in 1984 and hosted many famous guests, including former President Reagan. Related shuttered the property in 2005 . http://la.curbed.com/uploads/2009.10.century.jpg On July 22, 2008 Candy Spelling, the wife of late television producer Aaron Spelling, purchased the penthouse occupying the top two floors of the building. The penthouse residence, spanning approximately 16,500 square feet (1,530 m) sold for $47 million, or $2,848 per square foot, setting a price-per-square-foot record for a Los Angeles condominium residence. The previous record for a Los Angeles condominium sale was set in February 2008 when a half-floor penthouse at The Century sold for $15 million or $2,700 per-square-foot.
