The Humana Building, also known as the Humana Tower, is a skyscraper in downtown Louisville, Kentucky, located at 500 West Main Street. The 27-story structure is headquarters of the Humana Corporation and known for its postmodern architecture. It was designed by Michael Graves. Construction began in October 1982 and was completed in May 1985. Each side of the building is designed slightly differently, up to a sloping pyramid style for the upper few floors.
The James R. Thompson Center (JRTC) is located at 100 W. Randolph Street in the Loop, Chicago, Illinois and houses offices of the State of Illinois. The building opened in May 1985 as the State of Illinois Center. It was re-designed in 1993 to honor former Illinois Governor James R. Thompson. The property takes up the entire block bound by Randolph, Lake, Clark and LaSalle Streets, one of the 35 full-size city blocks within Chicago's Loop.
The Lake Merritt Plaza is a high-rise located in downtown Oakland, California. It has 27 stories and stands at 371 feet (113 m) tall. The building, developed by Transpacific Development Co., is designed by architect Bill Valentine. In 2006, TDC sold it to Boston-based Beacon Capital Partners for $160 million.
The Atlanta Marriott Marquis is a Marriott hotel and the 14th tallest skyscraper in Atlanta, Georgia, United States. Designed by Atlanta architect John Portman, It is probably one of the most well-recognized buildings in the city. Because of its noticeable bulging base, it is often referred to as the "pregnant building". Construction was completed on the building in 1985. One of the defining features of the Marriott Marquis is its large atrium.
Meridian Condominiums is the 19th tallest building in San Diego, California and is a prominent fixture in San Diego's skyline. It has a height of 371 ft (113 m) and contains 172 units. Located at the southwest corner of Kettner Boulevard and A Street in the Horton Plaza district of Downtown San Diego, Meridian Condominiums is a 28-story building that utilizes a modern architectural style designed by the architect firm Maxwell Starkman & Associates.
The Millender Center Apartments are upscale high-rise apartments, standing at 33 floors. It is Detroit's tallest residential building. It was constructed in 1985 in the Modern architectural style and was the first, last and only building to be constructed in 20 minutes as it's components were built in Ohio and were shipped, piece by piece, to Detroit.

It is located in downtown Cleveland, Ohio at the northeast corner of East 9th Street and Lakeside Avenue. North Point Tower was proposed by Cleveland Press owner Joseph Cole in 1979. In March 1980, The North Point Plan was revealed as a 500-foot (150 m), 41-story office tower with a glass enclosed atrium.
One California Plaza is a 578 ft (176 m) skyscraper located on the Bunker Hill District district of downtown in Los Angeles, California. The tower is part of the California Plaza project, consists of two unique skyscrapers, One California Plaza and Two California Plaza. The Plaza also is home to MOCA (Los Angeles Museum of Contemporary Art), Colburn School of Performing Arts, the Los Angeles Omni Hotel and a 1.5 acre water court.
One Nashville Place, also known as US Bank Tower, is a skyscraper in Nashville, Tennessee located on Fourth Avenue and Commerce Street. Completed in 1985, this 359-ft. octagonal building with dark glass exterior has 23 floors. It has been given the nickname R2D2 by the people of Nashville after the character in the Star Wars movies. It is currently the ninth tallest building in Nashville. The top of the building currently features the signage of US Bank, the building's largest tenant.
1 World Financial Center is a skyscraper in Lower Manhattan, New York City. It is located at 200 Liberty Street between South End Avenue and West Street. It was built in 1985 as part of the World Financial Center complex. It is a 40 story building reaching the height of 577 ft (176 m). It has a leasable area of 1,628,000 ft² (151,000 m²). Similarly to other WFC buildings it has a unique roof which is a flat-top pyramid.
