1 New York Place was a supertall skyscraper that was proposed in 2002 to rise 1,050 feet (320 m) tall and have 90 floors. The tower was supposed to be located in New York City's financial district at Broadway and Fulton Street, but the project was canceled. The tower was designed by Kohn Pedersen Fox and projected to cost USD $680 million. It would have had 1.3 million square feet (121,000 square meter) of floor space.
10 East 40th Street or the Mercantile Building is a skyscraper located in the Murray Hill section of New York City, between Fifth Avenue and Madison Avenue, taking the width of the block between 40th and 39th Streets. Designed by Ludlow & Peabody and built by Jesse H. Jones, it was finished in 1929 and is considered part of the art deco school of architecture. When it was built, it was the fourth-tallest tower in the world.

1095 Avenue Of The Americas is a 630 ft (192m) tall skyscraper in New York City, New York. It was constructed from 1972 to 1974 as headquarters of New York Telephone and has 41 floors. The building also served as the headquarters of Bell Atlantic. Kahn & Jacobs designed the building, which is the 61st tallest in New York. From 2006 to 2007 the tower received a $260 million renovation which upgraded the office space from Class B+ to Class A office space.
1221 Avenue of the Americas, also known as the McGraw-Hill Building is a skyscraper built in 1969, located at 1221 Sixth Avenue, Midtown Manhattan, New York City, New York, between Sixth Avenue and Seventh Avenue. It is the third building in Manhattan to have the McGraw-Hill name, and is one of several buildings which are part of the Rockefeller Center complex expansion in the 1960s. It is 674 feet (205 m) high and 51 stories.

Even before 1585 Broadway began to rise over Duffy Square, its developer, David S. Solomon, had signed law firm Proskauer Rose to a 20-year lease for 365,000 square feet (33,900 square meters). A notable achievement at any time, the deal was a milestone in a market where a growing number of new buildings were competing heavily for a shrinking number of tenants.
