The two buildings were designed as twin towers, and rise 426 feet (130 meters), with 42 floors. Both skyscrapers were designed by the Arquitectonica architectural firm, and the complex was developed by the Related Group of Florida.

It is the tallest building in New Jersey, and the tallest in the United States of any building not in its metropolitan area's largest city. The tower has 42 floors and is 238 m (781 feet) tall. The tower was designed by Cesar Pelli, who also designed the Petronas Towers in Kuala Lumpur, One Canada Square in London and the Key Tower in Cleveland.

InterContinental Chicago is a hotel in Chicago, Illinois. The hotel currently occupies two Multi-story buildings. The historic tower, or "South Tower," is a 471 foot, 42 story building which was completed in 1929 originally as the home of the Medinah Athletic Club. The main tower, or "North Tower" is a 295 foot, 25 story addition, completed in 1961. The current owners of the hotel, Strategic Hotels & Resorts, has also proposed an 850 foot, 71 story skyscraper to replace the North Tower.

It is located in Downtown's southern Brickell Financial District, an area of increased density with the recent building boom in Miami. The 42-story tower was completed in 2005, and is located at 1451 South Miami Avenue, two blocks west of Brickell Avenue. The building is near Southeast/Southwest 15th Road, which is known as Broadway in Miami.
